Mathematical Kisses by Anna Lillian Wade

A spy wishes her not-so-glamorous life were a little less staged and a little more real…

When Robin Leslie took the job for an investigative agency, she expected Bond-like glamour and action. Instead she sits around in the sleepy suburbs, keeping house and waiting for the phone to ring.

Partnered with the brilliant mathematician, Elliot Leslie, they work to make their fake life seem as real as possible to onlookers while Elliot tracks the accounts of suspected domestic terrorist organizations. Playing the cover wife rather than a spy has its perks, and Robin enjoys the affections of her pretend husband, even if they are staged.

Elliot, his brilliant conversations, and his feigned affections are just part of the job, though. Aren't they? But when they unexpectedly reach the end of their assignment, she begins to suspect how real their fake marriage may have been...

I liked it okay, but couldn't exactly tell you what the book was about. This one left me confused and wanting more to the book. This book rates a 3 *** for me.

Hear Me by Luis Filipe Alves

Punishment has a Voice.

Joana and Gonçalo are married. But their marriage is far from perfect.
The tragedy of their daughter’s death has pushed them apart, to the point that they can barely communicate.
Yet Joana and Gonçalo are still married.
Then the Voice appears, a voice that only Gonçalo seems to hear. Convinced their dead daughter is reaching out to him from beyond, Gonçalo becomes obsessed with decoding the Voice's message.
An obsession that forces both of them to confront the real forces that keep them together, and what they truly felt about each other and their daughter.
And the truth behind the Voice will push them towards a fate they never wanted, and could never have guessed.
Joana and Gonçalo are married.
For now.

** spoiler alert ** This book leaves me confused and frustrated about what actually happened. Was the original voice their daughters? Was it his predicting his own death? Was interesting enough to finish the book, but left me aggravated. This book rates 3 *** for me.

My 5 ***** books so far for 2019

As Lana stared at the twelve gladiators, straining against the ties at her wrists and ankles, she knew she was in trouble…

Being the queen of high society had its downfalls, namely developing powerful enemies. But Lana fears no one and nothing. She speaks out against the cruelty of the coliseum, even while she’s aroused by the muscular warriors.

When she angers the wrong man, the last thing she expects is to become his entertainment for the night. Twelve gladiators have been awarded her as their slave. To do with what they will. But even though they’ll follow the orders of their master, they’ll also do something no one expects: arouse her.

~This short love story is of one woman and her gladiators. It begins as a dark and twisted tale and evolves to a romance like no other. This is not a story for the faint of heart. It is rough, hard, and dark, so if that doesn’t appeal to you, don’t buy it.~

Naked men hosing themselves down under the sunlight. A strong man carrying her in his arms. And a kiss that shatters her world...

This is the story of how an angel fell for three handsome demons. It's not about one powerful moment. It's about a series of moments that changed everything.

Yet, it's only the beginning.

AN ANGEL AND HER DEMONS is a short prequel to the Mates of the Realms: Immortals' series. It's a paranormal reverse harem involving an angel and her three demons. It's filled with magic, action, humor, and the occasional naked demon. It also originally appeared in the anthology Before the Harem.

Fighting for my country used to give me purpose. After my tour of duty ends, so does that sense of fulfillment.

I’m lost until the dreams start—dreams of the life I truly desire. In the night, I’m treated to visions of a beautiful woman who I share with two other men. These fantasies feel more real than my waking life. I’m completely captivated, utterly in love with a woman I’ve never met.

There is hope for my future, now—all I have to do is claim her.

Dragon Forgotten is a short story prequel to the Spellbound Souls reverse harem trilogy featuring one strong female dragon shifter and the three hot-as-sin male dragon shifters who win a place in her company...and in her bed.

Vampire Dante Gabriel is starving. What he craves is red gold—human blood. After being held captive as a blood slave to a female vampire for years, he has finally escaped. Unchained at last, he follows his nose to the nearest blood bank to sate his hunger.
ER nurse Erin Hamilton expects just another busy night shift…until she finds a gorgeous stranger vandalizing the hospital blood bank. Though her logic tells her to turn him in, she’s pulled by stronger and unfamiliar emotions to protect the man who seems oddly infatuated with her scent. Chemistry sizzles between them, but Dante, plagued by nightmares of his time in captivity, fears he won’t be able to control himself…especially when he discovers a secret she doesn’t even know she’s hiding.

Each of these books were good quick reads that pulled me in immediately. Each of them seemed to be prequels to a series and definitely succeeded  in making me want to purchase the next one in the series. Here is the order to which I liked each book:
1: An Angel and her Demons
2: Blood Bound
3: The Gladiators Slave
4: Dragon Forgotten

An Angel and her Demons and The Gladiators Slave both seem to be Reverse Harem books so if you don't like those type of books move on.

Small Town Seven by Kelli Callahan

I was only going to the small town of Granite Falls to handle some family business. I was a timid virgin with a damaged heart when I arrived. What started as a date with a man who helped me when I had a flat tire quickly spiraled into something I never expected. Seven men who craved me. Seven men who wanted to take care of me, protect me, and provide me with everything I ever dreamed of. What I didn't know at the time was that Granite Falls was filled with secrets and I was the key to unlocking them all.

Axe, the bad boy with a heart of gold.

Sheriff Jesse James, the peacekeeper who left my mouth watering when I first laid eyes on him.

Steve, his amazing brother -- a small town mechanic with a smile that could melt my heart.

Major, an Army veteran who left everything in the desert, including a piece of his humanity.

Blue, the local bartender who could quench a whole lot more than just my thirst.

Luther, a preacher who put his faith in God, but lost his faith when his world fell apart.

Mayor Joe Danvers, a young politician trying to hold everything together.

Kelli's Note: This is a steamy standalone novella with a HEA and no cheating! I'm a girl that likes wild and crazy romances, so that is exactly what you get from me. My heroes might be a little over-the-top with a touch of caveman and you'll get some angst along the way, but I promise that the good parts will give you a plenty of reasons to read this all by yourself!

This book was not the typical Reverse Harem book that I read. I enjoyed this quick read, but couldn't give the kindle version a 5 *****. The kindle version is a 4 **** for me because it contained too many errors in it.

Apocalypstick by Greg Carrico

Apocalypstick contains two deliciously dark short stories: Finding Home, a supernatural horror, and Killing Tiffany Hudson, a post-apocalyptic tale of two genetically modified people who must decide the fate of humanity.

Finding Home

If you have ever glanced at a stranger in the grocery store, and wondered what their life must be like, and then followed them home to peek at them through their windows, and then slipped inside their house at night just to look around, and then stood next to their bed to watch over them while they slept, and thought I could live this life, then please seek help. Weirdo.

But on your way to the hospital (or the police station), walk a few steps in the shoes of a troubled man on a quest for a new home and a new life, while he deals with a few disturbing personal issues. Finding Home is a short paranormal horror story that lets you test-drive the lives of strangers in a perfectly legal, non-creepy way.

Killing Tiffany Hudson

Is there any line you wouldn't cross to save the life of a loved one? Is there any price you wouldn't pay? A young man battles with the consequences of his answers to these questions, in this Post-apocalyptic short story, where right masquerades as wrong, weakness as strength, and deadly monsters as... camels? Well, sometimes, yes.

This was another okay read and rates a 3 *** for me. This was different from my usual reads. My issue with this book was it was too short. Author could have done so much more with this book if it were a bit longer.

Vampire's Curse by Matilda King

All her life, Agnes has felt this deep sense of foreboding. She puts it out of her mind, but she knows she can’t get rid of it as easily as she’d like to. She sees things that shouldn't exist and these memories trace all the way back to her childhood.

Her time is running out, however. The Blood King has risen from the grave once more. After centuries of being kept underground, he is ready to ascend to the throne, re-establish his empire and find his elusive wife. This time, there will be no one to save her - not even herself.

Woven with intrigue and murderous blood-lust, read the stunning backstory to Matilda King's upcoming full length novel in her three-part series - Blood Oath.

This book was an okay and quick read for me. I rate this one a 3 *** This isn't your typical Vampire book so if your looking for that move on to a different book.

Werecat: The Rearing by Andrew J Peters

For Jacks Dowd, a college senior who feels ungrounded from his family and life in general, an alcohol and sex-infused weekend in Montréal sounds like a pretty good escape. His Spring Break binge takes a detour when he meets Benoit, an admiring drifter with startling green eyes. A hook-up turns into a day, two days, and then a full week in Benoit's hostel, making love and scarfing down take-out food. But at the end of the week, Benoit demands that Jacks make an impossible choice: stay with him forever, or go back to college and never see him again.

For this book I was looking to try something different and it was a bit. This book was interesting enough to keep me going but not much else. This book rates a 2 ** for me.

Doctor Who: Forever Autumn by Mark Morris

It is almost Halloween in the sleepy New England town of Blackwood Falls. Autumn leaves litter lawns and sidewalks, paper skeletons hang in windows, and carved pumpkins leer from stoops and front porches.

The Doctor and Martha soon discover that something long-dormant has awoken in the town, and this will be no ordinary Halloween. What is the secret of the ancient chestnut tree and the mysterious book discovered tangled in its roots? What rises from the local churchyard in the dead of night, sealing up the lips of the only witness? And why are the harmless trappings of Halloween suddenly taking on a creepy new life of their own?

As nightmarish creatures prowl the streets, the Doctor and Martha must battle to prevent both the townspeople and themselves from suffering a grisly fate...

This book seems to be for a younger audience. And was a little slow starting. This just wasn't my kind of book. I rate this one a 2**

Flashpoint: The World of Flashpoint Featuring Batman

Flashpoint has changed the DC Universe, and nothing is as it was before. Now, Batman is Thomas Wayne, driven by the death of his son Bruce to punish criminals... and in pursuit of a Joker whose twisted crimes will bring him to the brink madness himself! "Batman: Knight of Vengeance" reunites Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, the acclaimed creative team from 100 BULLETS. Dick Grayson travels with his parents and the death-defying Deadman across war-torn Europe, performing in the their circus... until an Amazon attack leads them to their true fate, in "Deadman and the Flying Graysons" by JT Krul (CAPTAIN ATOM) and Fabrizio Fiorentino (TITANS).

In this world, Deathstroke is a pirate on the world's most dangerous waters, questing for the only treasure that really matters, in "Deathstroke and the Curse of the Ravager" by Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Joe Bennett.

And in "Secret Seven" by Peter Milligan (RED LANTERNS), Shade the Changing Man leads a secret team of bizarre heroes—but will he lead them to their deaths?

The version of this book I ended up with wasn't the full version. So for what I was able to read it was a 3 *** Rating will change if I can get the full version. This comic did not need a preview. Which is exactly what that felt like.

The rest of my 1 * ratings for 2019 so far

Discover four sexy cougar shifter brothers guaranteed to become your next book boyfriends in this hot new shapeshifter romance series from New York Times and USA Today international best-selling author Felicity Heaton, set in the same rich and addictive world as her Eternal Mates paranormal romance series.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

With a storm paralyzing New England, the O'Boyle household becomes prey to a pair of brutal escaped killers desperate to find refuge.

Skyler O'Boyle is convinced the only way they can live through the night is by playing a daring psychological game to throw the convicts off their guard. Threatened by a pair of Smith & Wessons, she has to pray that the rest of her family will play along, buying them time. Her one hope for rescue is that the men are unaware that her daughter, Kat, has escaped into the blizzard. But as the wind and snow continue to rage with all the vehemence of a maddened banshee, her prayers that Kat can somehow find help seem fragile indeed.

When Kat stumbles on a third felon, half-frozen and delirious, her shock deepens, because she recognizes Craig Devon immediately. What is the onetime love of her life doing back in town-and in such company? With the threat of death hanging over the O'Boyles, Craig is desperate to unload a vital secret that could change their destiny. But can he trust Kat with the truth? Because one false move and everything he's sacrificed will shatter-and this could be everyone's final Christmas alive.

Okay, so the first book I listed (Claimed by her Cougar)  was a slow starting one as well as the third book I listed (The Last Noel). As I have mentioned before I do not like slow starting books. I like to be pulled in immediately if not almost immediately. I tried harder than I usually do with The Last Noel, because that description intrigued me. But in the end I just couldn't do it. With the second book (The Wife Between Us) I decided to give a try when I kept seeing it in a Facebook group I am in called Bookaholics. And it just wasn't my kind of book. Also slow starting but not bad enough for it to bug me much. I decided to clump the rest of my 1 * reviews into one post because I really don't like giving out 1 * reviews.

Bear Naked Yoga by Blaine Thomas

Rob growled, a deep rumble coming from his chest. He pulled my ankles up to his shoulders and readied his massive manhood in his hand.
Yoga is peaceful. Yoga is natural. Yoga brings you spiritual balance.

Bullshit. Whoever said that never went to my yoga class and never did it with a body like mine. I strained, pushed, pulled and grimaced through it with sweat pouring down my body. And I had to do it all with the stunning Bear Shifter Robert watching me. His golden eyes, undressing me as I bent over in front of him. You now how hard it is to not get a boner with him in the room?

So when I got a private invitation, I decided to man up and take a chance. Ok, I had the help of quite a bit of liquor, but that's beside the point. The point is, I went.

And...he had a friend. Yes, it was going to be a good night.

Finally a book I can give a good review to 😊 this book rates a 4 **** for me. It was a good quick read. Now for those who don't particularly like books about gay men or gay men sex scenes this book isn't for you. I intend on checking out this author some more.

Deep Blue Secret by Christie Anderson

California teen, Sadie James, thinks her life couldn't get any better. She has great friends, an energetic mother she adores, and the beach practically in her own backyard. But her carefree life is turned upside down when she's rescued by a mysterious and strangely familiar boy who won't even tell her his name.

Each time the boy appears, Sadie's unexplainable attraction to him deepens along with her need to unravel his secrets. The boy is there to protect her. But as wonderful and exciting as it might be to have an irresistible boy with crystal green eyes protecting her every move, every minute of the day . . . why does Sadie need one?

As Sadie finds answers, she realizes her life isn't as perfect as she thought. Not only is she caught in a world of dangerous secret agents she never knew existed, but it turns out her true identity may be the greatest secret of all.

This book caught my attention when I saw the cover, Unfortunately I can't say the same about the book itself. I am one that doesn't like slow starting books. If you are one that doesn't mind a slow start then you will probably like this book better than I did. As I rated this book another 1 * I really don't like giving out 1* ratings. But it seems like 2019 didn't get off to a great start when it came to books.

Sex Education: A Woman's Awakening, Book 1 by Alexis Adaire

The temptation to sin and lure of the forbidden can be impossible to ignore.
Sex Education, A Woman's Awakening: The Series: Rebecca Beiler's recent sexual urges are at odds with her strict religious upbringing. Married at 17 to a sexually repressed man who left her a widow, at age 26 she now finds herself yearning to be taken hard by hot men with chiseled bodies. When an indiscretion with a neighbor leads to a six-month expulsion from her community, Rebecca attempts to purge herself of her sinful desires by giving into them, in full. Unfortunately, each new intoxicating encounter only intensifies her cravings — intense lustful cravings for physical ecstasy that lead Rebecca to dark recesses of the sexual underground and compel her to do things the likes of which she never imagined herself capable.

In Book 1 Rebecca inadvertently sees a pornographic image that spurs in her a dormant desire for sex. One thing leads to another until she's forced to embark on the adventure of a lifetime, one that will lead her to question her former life and spark a fierce hunger for physical pleasure.
This series was formerly published under the name Shunned.
In my opinion this Author could have done so much better, this book would have been better if it had been longer. This book was a 1 * rating for me.
